William H. Money, Ph.D. Professor of Management and Management Information Systems Dr. Money, Professor of Management and Management Information Systems, Baker School of Business, The Citadel; Charleston, SC joined the Citadel in August 2014. Prior to joining the Citadel faculty, Dr. Money served as an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the George Washington University, Washington DC, and as the director of the Executive Master of Science in Information Systems program. He joined the George Washington University, School of Business and Public Management faculty in September 1992 after acquiring over 12 years of management experience in the design, development, installation, and support of management information systems (1980-92). His publications over the last seven years and recent research interests focus on collaborative solutions to complex business problems, business process engineering, information system development tools and methodologies including the WWW, Web workflow, and expert systems; and the impacts of Group Support Systems (GSSs) on individual learning. He is engaged in analyzing the use of process documentation tools and process engineering for collecting and documenting organizational memories; testing research hypotheses that determine the best techniques for providing task support for workgroup activities that may significantly benefit from access to and the use of organization memory; and in the acquisition and distribution of expert knowledge. He is also developing teaching cases and training techniques that prepare students to complete capstone course experiences. Before his joining GWU he supported the Government acquisition of the Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS). RCAS automated nearly ten thousand reserve units at some five thousand locations throughout the United States. Dr. Money's management and support activities included: analyses of the systems being replaced by the RCAS; preparation of training materials for the user support staff and data transition team; and user surveys, analysis, and planning for the transition of user Office Automation (OA) data, and systems to the RCAS. He prepared and reviewed many key inputs to the RCAS statement of work, contractor proposal preparation instructions, and the Competitive Demonstration (CD) evaluation plan. He led the combined Government and support contractor team that developed all data collection methods, databases, and competitive demonstration scenarios from the RCAS Functional Description's hardware, software, and communication requirements. He provided ongoing support to the program office by consulting on system deployment with the development and revisions of Data Transfer Procedures and Instructions, the design to cost (DTC) program initiative, the Strategic Planning and Requirement branch efforts to define future program requirements, and in the management of external interface to program developed software. He previously served as the Deputy Program Manager for the Baxter Healthcare Systems' Composite Healthcare System Program. He was responsible for the management of the program office (70+ people); directed the program-planning department that prepared all management and Government reports on cost and schedules; and served as the primary point of contact for the development and installation of a mainframe computer system that provided administrative, ancillary, and clinical functions to a large Government hospital. He managed quality assurance and the delivery of contract data (specifications, designs, test plans, and reports) to the Contract Officer. He was responsible for the development, execution and completion of a 9-week Extended Benchmark Test (EBT) that documented the performance of the IBM 3090 and 438X mainframe systems bid to the Government and the performance capabilities of the systems and applications software developed during the contract. Dr. Money also has extensive healthcare research experience.
